DIY Pom Pom Garland {Tutorial}

For our gender reveal party I wanted to keep the decorations to a minimum, but I wanted the ones I did make to stand out. I decided to make two pom pom garlands, one pink and one blue. These garlands can be used anywhere to add a little pop to your party. Thank you to my amazing sister in law for teaching me how to make these!

Here are the materials you will need to make your own pom pom garland:
-2 Cardboard circles with the middles cut out (I traced the bottom of a cup and then a bottle cap)
-Thick yarn
-Sharp Scissors
Start by wrapping your yarn around both cardboard circles. You do not need to tie it, simply wrap it around evenly and make sure to pull it tight.
Continue wrapping the yarn around the entire circle until covered. Make sure to pull pretty tightly on the yarn. If you have a cat in your house you can be sure they will come out to help you with this project!
Once you have wrapped the yarn around the cardboard circle once, go ahead and wrap it again two more times or even more if you want a thicker pom pom.
When you are satisfied with the thickness of your yarn, pinch the middle of the inner circle and then cut in between the two cardboard circles leaving the end of your yarn hanging for later.
 Make sure the scissors stay between the two cardboard circles the whole way around.
 As you cut around the circle, it will actually start to resemble a pom pom. Yay!
Now take another piece of yarn and wrap it in between the two cardboard circles. Loop it around and tie it off then slide the cardboard circles off each end slowly.
After you have your pom pom continue making them until you have the number you want to put on your garland. You should be able to push your finger through the middle of the pom pom and string the garland through. I did some measuring to make sure they were spaced evenly.

Happy crafting!

This is so cute and super easy! I love it. I wish I read this before my sister's reveal on Monday, but I'll pin now and save for later. :)

How have I never noticed that you have a tattoo on your wrist?! It looks pretty from what I can see! What's the story behind it?

Also, this is such a cute project!
