Just call me doctor...

My husband got his wisdom teeth taken out on Friday so this weekend I've been playing doctor.
The cats made sure to do their part in making sure Drew gets better!
I took the day off work on Friday, which was amazing because I got Drew settled in at the dentist and they said they'd call me 20 minutes before he was going to be out of surgery...so nice. So off I headed to Panera for an Asiago cheese bagel, hot chocolate and some reading time. I started reading Below Stairs and am really liking it so far! It was one of the books that inspired the show, Downton Abbey so if you like the idea of Downton, you'll enjoy this book.
When I picked up my husband he was all drugged up and so tired. He could barely keep his eyes open or finish a sentence without falling immediately to sleep. It was adorable actually and very entertaining. He kept trying to tell me something that the dentist told him to eat and then about how he really needed to order a new gun holster, but then he'd fall asleep mid sentence...(leave it to my husband to talk about guns in the midst of his sedation)
He slept for a few hours when we got home and I took pictures and video taped him in his grogginess so we could laugh at it later. Aren't I a good wife? I made sure he ate all the good stuff and took his medicine like a good little patient. Drew actually requested baby food (the guy loves the stuff) and scrambled eggs so that is what he got.
When he was alert I set up the pull out couch and we spent the day watching episodes of Breaking Bad and eating ice cream in between changing gauze and getting new ice packs. It's been nice to do nothing but make sure my husband has what he needs. I don't think I could be anyone else's doctor, but I actually like being that for him.

Have you had your wisdom teeth out or had to take care of anyone who had?

You are a great doc! He looks like he's got a great setup considering it is prob TORTURE. By some miracle of God I do not have wisdom teeth. Xrays at a random appt showed I'm missing three sets of very back teeth.....two sets on top, one set bottom. I have to say I'm not too mad about it!! Good luck with your patient :))

Aw your poor hubby! I know the feeling. I had all four of my wisdom teeth cut out...and they were so far down they actually had to get in my jaw bone. I looked like a bulldog for days because of the swelling. I can not tell you how sick and tired I got from not being able to eat solid foods! Pudding, ice cream, & creamed potatoes was my diet. And I actually lost weight that week too...maybe I have found the perfect diet? Pudding, ice cream, & creamed potatoes!? Haha. Oh and the pain? No fun. And a couple of days after the surgery I became allergic to my pain medicine. It was the weekend and my doctor was out so he could not prescribe me anything so advil had to do. -_-

Props to you! This past summer, my sister and I both got ours taken out in the same week and it was HIGH DRAMA. My grandma had to come over and stay with us too for the extra pair of hands. haha. I ended up fainting a few hours after the surgery (which I was AWAKE for, after some miscommunication with the dentist). ugh. Definitely one of the worst days of my life. Hope the hubs gets to feeling better soon (and hope you get to sneak some ice cream from him!).

What a great doctor you are! Especially the parts about pictures and videos of the aftermath ;) Hehe! Hope he's having a speedy recovery from the surgery.

I had my wisdom teeth out about 6-7 years ago and had a pretty easy time with it, thankfully. The funniest part of my after-surgery grogginess was demanding I NEEDED the extra large Wendy's Frostee (when my mom just wanted to get me a small one) and I was downingggg it, like inhaled the whole thing on the way home lol!

Not lying here, but getting my wisdom teeth out was wonderful. The best sleep I think I've had my entire life... Sometimes I dream for that brief experience again.

Aww, glad you are there to take good care of him! I had all four of mine taken out this past August and it was AWFUL! Haha! They actually had to take out part of my jaw bone on the bottom two. And while I was supposed to be asleep for it... I was most definitely awake and very alert. The surgeon even told Christopher that while I was awake for it, the drugs should do their job and I wouldn't remember anything. LIES! Haha! It's not his fault, I'm just apparently not very susceptible to those drugs. Anyway, my face was enormous and I ended up with dry socket in two of the four spots. It wasn't the best 10 days of my life, that's for sure. ;) Hope he heals quickly! :)
