My first (accidental) night hike...

Howdy Ya'll! Oh wait I mean Hi. I must have picked the ya'll up in Nashville. We just got back from a few days away at my sister and brother-in laws for Thanksgiving and now we are back and ready to put up the Christmas tree!

We had a great time and I took a TON of pictures starting with the first day...our hike that accidentally turned into a night hike. Has that ever happened to you? You start out on a trail and then the trail loops around and you accidentally take the wrong section of the loop and end up walking over an hour in the dark? Well that happened to us and it was actually pretty funny once we got back safe and sound. Here are some pictures of our adventures at Long Hunter State park in Tennessee.
Two of my sister in laws and my "nephew" Rocky.
Gorgeous view of J. Percy Priest Lake on our hike
Stopping for a picture at sunset...little did we know we had another 2 miles to hike! Oops.
Our "OMG we still have so far to go in the dark" faces!
Thankfully the moonlight was our friend and we used the lights of our cell phones and our tracker dog Rocky to help guide the way. All in all it was an adventure and another memory made. We were all ready to stay the night in the fort above too! Have you ever gone on a night hike (on purpose or on accident?)
Coming up tomorrow...Jack Daniel's Distillery tour!

That happened to us once, but we only had like a half mile in the dark, but with heavy tree cover. The cell phone worked to keep us on the trail. I bet you and I both will be taking flashlights from now on when we go on late day hikes just in case!

We did a night hike in Yosemite (on purpose! (: ) and it was so fun! Definitely different braving the trails when you have less senses to guide you. Looks like you had a very protective nephew to protect you though. :)

That is hilarious. I'd probably be scared to death, haha but sounds like a fun time and like some great memories were made!

PS- do I spot a Cincinnati Reds hat on your man?? :) woo!

I would be a little afraid. You always hear of hikers who get lost in the woods and end up having to spend a night or two alone... I'm sure it would be okay if you had your cell phone and some fellow hikers. You're brave!!

haha i love this! cute pics! I have never hiked accidentally at night...I do, however, remember at church camp we intentionally went on a overnight hike and they had to wake us up at like 2:00 am to move our halfway built tent because they found fresh bear poop close by. FREAKY! hahaha

Yikes! I am familiar with the accidental night hike. It's not funny or fun until it's OVER. And then you can have a laugh later. (My accidental night hike involved two bears. Never. Again.)
