Thoughts on my becoming an Airhead...

I would consider myself a very organized and well thought out Type A gal, but since becoming pregnant...I'm a total airhead. Pregnancy brain is very real people.

Before I was pregnant I hardly ever lost things...Since becoming pregnant I have lost both my keys and my favorite jacket. (Keys have since been found, jacket is still MIA) I also manage to leave my purse behind almost everywhere we go. Scary, right?

Before I was pregnant I had a pretty good grip on my emotions and showed good restraint especially when talking about getting a dog. Drew and I had decided to wait to get a dog until our kids could enjoy it. Well once I got pregnant I almost bought a dog. And I'm not exaggerating at ALL! The SPCA showed up at Kroger when I was grocery shopping with about 50 dogs and a whole truck full of kittens. I literally cried as I paced up and down the aisles of Kroger on the phone with Drew telling him that this one dog needed me. I took out enough cash at the ATM to buy him and everything. It was a very close call. Thankfully my sweet husband (who was at work while trying to talk me very sweetly out of getting a dog) told me to come on home and we would talk about it there. He convinced me the dog would still be there if I wanted to go back and get it. Thankfully I got a grip and did not buy the dog.

I've always been bad with directions, but since becoming pregnant it has gotten worse. I went to visit my father in law at the wrong hospital after his hip surgery even though I knew exactly where I was supposed to be going.

I often forget where I'm going or what I'm supposed to be doing, but it is all worth it. My thoughts are now focused on the little man in my belly and I wouldn't change it for the world.

Now please share your best pregnancy brain moments so I don't feel like such an airhead...

Oh girl, just wait until you have mommy brain! I thought pregnancy brain was bad, I can't remember ANYTHING. Well, except for James. He's always on my mind! Worst (best) pregnancy brain moment happened when I was about 7 months pregnant I think? I was filling the kitchen sink to soak something and then left to go do something with every intention of going right back except I didn't. 10 minutes later I'm sitting on the couch watching tv when my husband walks into the kitchen and just stares and says "Uh, honey? Did you forget something?" I had flooded the entire kitchen counter but after that they were so clean :)

My memory has gotten worse! I've always been forgetful but pregnancy increased my bad memory.

Oh my GOSH! Pregnancy brain is insane, and so real! My hubs would tease me that I was that "airheaded" our whole marriage but nooooooo way! I remember being in the middle of a story and I forgot which word I was going to say... I would literally search my brain (sounds so weird, but that's what it felt like) and my mind would just be blank. I felt so incredibly stupid!
Then a friend told me that it's been proven that brain power goes down 10% when pregnant and that made me feel so much better... even though it was like mine went down 55%, ha ha!

Hahaha...awww. I would definitely struggle with that, too. I pride myself on being mostly together and if suddenly I wasn't, that'd be rough.

This makes me giggle. My partner teacher at school was pregnant the whole school year and she suffered from it too. I have no doubt you will get your things together once he arrives. So excited for you friend.

Haha! I use to be more organized and with it to, but ever since I've been doing field experience and student teaching I've felt the air seep in. Who knows how bad it will get when I'm actually in my own classroom.

Aww, I can understand wanting a puppy, but I am sure that some other wonderful family has already adopted that little one and given him/her a great home! I can't imagine having a new pet and a new baby at the same time. I'm glad you were able to restrain yourself (at least a little) until you got home and could talk to Drew about it in person.

Also, I hope you find your jacket!

Oh gosh... been there! Actually, sorry to say, but it's worst for me now that baby is here and I'm sleep-deprived! I can't even remember certain words sometimes.
